Master Schedule and Team Assignments

March 17, 1998

This is a tentative schedule for the UNC Network Infrastructure Assessment campus visits. The goal of the visits is to support the campus networking staff as they document the current state of data networking on each campus. By using a set of common assessment worksheets, baseline network standards, and a team of UNC consultants, we are determining the resources necessary to meet baseline network standards throughout the system.

Campus follow-up visits (estimated start date 4/6 through 4/24)

Follow-up visits will begin after the assessment process has begun on each campus. Visits will consist of the network team that originally visited the campus returning to assist in resolving any issues and in preparing the assessment worksheets to be turned in to project management staff at UNC General Administration. A network consultant from each team will be available to the campus networking staff throughout the study.

Network Infrastructure Cost Assessment (estimated start date 4/20 – 5/11)

Project managers at UNC General Administration will work to compile the study results into individual campus and system-wide reports. The reports will be distributed to campuses for use in their network planning documents and will also be used to prepare a budget request for the 1998 North Carolina General Assembly.

UNC Network Team Assignments

The UNC Network Team is made up of network specialists from UNC campuses and network consultants hired to assist with the assessment project. Some campuses chose to send a pool of representatives in order to minimize the impact on their day-to-day operations. If you have questions about the network teams please contact a project manager.
