Week Three Executive Summary
April 6, 1998
Week Three Report:
The end of week three brought the first half of our network assessment to a close. Each campus has been visited by members of the network team and are beginning to send in final assessment reports.
Assessments have been completed at:
Appalachian State East Carolina Elizabeth City State NC School of the Arts UNC Wilmington Western Carolina Winston-Salem StateFollow-up visits are scheduled for:
Fayetteville State NC A&T NC Central NC State UNC Asheville UNC Chapel Hill UNC Charlotte UNC Greensboro UNC PembrokeFollow-up visits will consist of a meeting with campus network reps, completing a short follow-up worksheet, and returning the data to project managers at UNC-GA.
Project managers distributed the following documents during week three:
- An executive summary describing week two activities
Schedule
Based on campus reports, we expect to have all of the assessments completed by Friday April 17. Follow-up visits will be completed during the next two weeks at a time convenient for the campuses and the consultant teams.
Communications
In addition to the weekly summaries there will be a videoconference to discuss the network assessment project on April 15th from 11:45 – 1:30 (this is the monthly CAUSE directors meeting time). We have also started posting network assessment documents on the web at: http://www.ga.unc.edu/its/netstudy/

The Chairman of the ITS Network Infrastructure Assessment Task Force is Chancellor Jim Woodward.
The senior IT manager at UNC General Administration is Dr. Henry Schaffer.
