During weeks four and five campus teams wrapped up their network assessments on all sixteen campuses and entered those results into electronic spreadsheets. These spreadsheets and any supplemental documentation were then sent to project managers at UNC-GA.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in the campus assessment project.

Over the weekend (4/17 - 4/19), project managers and consultants will be working to integrate the campus data into one comprehensive spreadsheet. This master data set will be applied to the current costing model in order to begin crafting the final numbers representing the cost necessary to bring each campus network up to the baseline. Until UNC Network Team members and the larger UNC IT community approve the costing model, the final results will vary slightly. However, each draft will bring us closer to the end result of a network specification that meets each campuses need both now and for the future.

Note: This will be the final weekly summary distributed by the ITS Network Assessment project management team. Additional information will continue to be distributed to the groups receiving these summaries.

As the campus assessment project comes to an end, the work of compiling the results into useable data begins. Here is a representative summary of what activities will be occurring over the next few weeks:

4/17 - Costing Rules of Thumb (ROT) distributed to UNC Network Team for comment

4/21-22 - Costing ROT distributed to UNC IT managers and campus network reps for comment

4/23 - UNC Network Team in-person meeting to review campus assessment data

5/1 - President and Chancellors meet to review funding allocation model

5/4 - Network assessment information delivered to UNC-GA budget office to develop budget request

5/7 - UNC Board of Governors Finance Committee receives budget request for approval

5/11 - NC General Assembly short-session begins

5/98 - UNC Network Infrastructure capital request submitted to NC General Assembly
