July Greetings,

We hope there is rejuvenation time this month for all school leaders. PEP is busy finalizing the content of 2008-09 programs. PEP programs are now aligned with the new North Carolina Standards for Principals. In addition, PEP is making changes in evaluating the outcomes of its programs. We are basing our evaluation model on the work of Donald Kirkpatrick and Thomas Guskey. PEP will evaluate impact at the five levels of analysis identified by Guskey: (1) participant’s satisfaction; (2) participant’s knowledge and skills; (3) organizational support for change; (4) participant’s behavior change; (5) participant’s impact on conditions for teaching, learning, and student performance. Implementation of this evaluation model is not without cost. To the extent PEP can secure additional resources and reallocate existing resources without diminishing services, the model will be implemented this summer.

We look forward to working with you in 2008-09.

Best,
Nancy Farmer
