Why does PATL provide laptops for participants?

The PATL curriculum seeks to model high quality use of technology for teaching and learning.  Many of the instructional sessions include a hands-on technology component.

At the end of PATL, who owns the laptop?

These laptops have been purchased with State funds and therefore are state property.  At the completion of the PATL program, the laptops are transferred to each LEA, not to individual PATL participants.  The $250 registration fee covers the cost of four days of professional development and should not be considered as payment for the laptop computer.

What hardware does PATL provide?

PATL provides a full-feature laptop computer. See the Laptop Choice page for further specifications.

What software does PATL provide?

PATL laptops include Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2000.  Office includes Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and FrontPage.
