Current Job I am the Principal at Parkwood High School.  I began this assignment on October 4, 2000.

Other Jobs Before coming to Parkwood, I was an Assistant Principal at Piedmont High School for six years.  I taught English and served as Athletic Director at Sun Valley High prior to moving to Piedmont.  From 1978 to 1991 I was in sales with several companies including Borden Chemical, Swift Adhesives, and U.S. Safety.  I began teaching at Southeast Junior High in 1976.

Passions Outside of education, I enjoy reading, playing golf, and traveling.  My wife and I spend a good deal of time at our cottage on Oak Island, NC which is near Southport.

Must Reads Works on my must read list include:  7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, The Provident Principal by Jack McCall, The Leadership Challenge (I can't remember who wrote it), anything by Louis Grizzard, and Grisham novels.

Quotes "To be an effective principal, you have to be able to skin your own skunks."  (Clif Dodson, Superintendent of Buncombe County Schools).
"You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred."  (Super Chicken)
"You do what you think is best, Ned!"  (John Wayne in True Grit)
"I never let my schooling interfere with my education."  (Mark Twain)
