| Education |
BA Degree in Social Sciences from
Lynchburg College (VA)
Master's Degree in Ed. Admin. from UNCG |

| Current Job |
I am principal of the 650-student
East Alexander Middle School, and I assume all duties and responsibilities
associated with being a middle school principal. |

| Other Jobs |
I have previously served as a
teacher, coach, department chair, club sponsor, high school assistant
principal, intermediate school principal, regional education lab rep.,
charter school managing director, and high school principal. |

| Passions |
My passions include spending time
with my family, and one way I do that is through my passion for coaching
youth sports. That has become my special interest outside my
job. I also enjoy attending athletic events in which my current and
former students participate. I sing in the church choir, enjoy
collecting sports memorabilia, watching the Andy Griffith Show, and
taking Sunday afternoon naps. |

| Must Reads |
The Provident Principal by
Jack McCall: The all-time greatest read for a new or practicing
school principal. It includes a passionate account of what an
effective principal should and should not be and do.
"Middle Ground" and other journals from the National Middle
School Association: These journals are must reads (or at least
must-perusals) for any middle school administrator. It allows
practicing professionals to stay in touch with concepts and ideas needed
to be effectively handle that elusive animal we call the middle school
student.
Any novels by John Grisham and James Patterson: I've read
everything each has written, and only Patterson has written one novel I
didn't like. Both writers have the gift of always making you want to
turn the page.

| Quotes |
"Be your task great or small, do
it well or not at all." -Author Unknown To Me
I was told this quote by an older gentleman (an evangelist) when I was a
teenager. I've always tried to live by it, for it carries a great
deal of meaning and truth.
"God, give us the grace to accept with serenity the things that
cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed,
and the wisdom to distinguish one from the other."
-Reinhold Niebuhr
I see this one quite often, but I never tire of it. How much easier
would our personal and professional lives be if we could put this theory
into action?
"It ain't over 'til it's over" and other quotes from Yogi
Berra: Each and every time I see one of Yogi's quotes, I still laugh
and am amazed at how simply Yogi can state fundamental truths. As an
avid sports fan and a lover of baseball history, Yogi's quotes will always
have special meaning for me.
